If your clinic changed hands and it no longer feels like your vet, or the last appointment ended before your questions did, there is another option 3.5 km away.
Caring Paws is on Burwood Highway at the Hartland Road corner, opposite Vermont South Shopping Centre: down Springvale Road and along the highway from Forest Hill, about four minutes by car. Dr Jessica Goh opened it in 2026 after 15 years in practice.
Why Forest Hill pet owners switch to us
You know the cost before anything happens
A consult is $118, and the rest of the list is on the pricing page for you to read before you book. Before any procedure you get an estimate, and if the plan changes during treatment you get a call before anything more is done. One owner wrote in July 2026 that Dr Jess sat down with them to "go through all of the treatment options and expected costs before proceeding". Payment plans through VetPay and Afterpay are available, and gap-only insurance claims are processed at the visit where your insurer allows it.

Same-day urgent care during opening hours
Vomiting, a dog that will not put weight on a leg, a wound that needs looking at today: call first and the team fits urgent cases into the day. Walk-ins are triaged on arrival. In June 2026 an owner whose dog had bloody diarrhoea wrote that Dr Jess "squeezed him into her schedule on the very same day". When the clinic is closed, the same number reaches a vet nurse for free triage advice, any hour.

Rehabilitation for stiff and recovering dogs
Dr Jess is a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist, which is rare in general practice: arthritis plans, laser therapy, post-op recovery and conditioning are done at the clinic rather than through a referral elsewhere. An owner who moved their older dog to Caring Paws after the old clinic changed ownership wrote in September 2026 that Dr Jess "gave us options for his ongoing care".

Pets in Forest Hill
Two spring problems come out of Forest Hill's backyards: grass seeds that work into paws and ears, and pollen allergies that show up as scratching. Both guides set out the early signs and when to stop watching and book. For an off-lead run, Forest Hill Reserve and Mahoneys Reserve are both on Whitehorse Council's off-lead list; after a run from spring on, run your fingers between the toes before you get back in the car.
Cats are seen in their own consult room away from the dogs. One owner wrote in July 2026 that their usually fearful cat "allowed Jess to perform a full examination without hissing once".

Getting here from Forest Hill
By car, about four minutes (3.5 km). Head south on Springvale Road, turn left onto Burwood Highway at the lights, and the clinic is 1.2 km along on the corner of Hartland Road. From Forest Hill Chase or Brentford Square allow seven minutes and about 5 km, the same way.
By bus. The 902 runs down Springvale Road and connects with the 732 along Burwood Highway, about 18 minutes door to door. Check PTV for times.
Parking. Free parking behind the clinic, plus street parking. The entrance is wheelchair accessible.
When you arrive. Two entrances and separate cat and dog consult rooms mean a reactive dog or a nervous cat goes straight through to a room; let the team know when you book.
Questions from Forest Hill pet owners
How far is Caring Paws from Forest Hill?
About 3.5 km and four minutes by car: south down Springvale Road, left onto Burwood Highway, and the clinic is on the corner of Hartland Road opposite Vermont South Shopping Centre. From Forest Hill Chase allow seven minutes. Parking is behind the clinic, and the 902 and 732 buses take about 18 minutes.
Forest Hill has its own vets. Why drive to Vermont South?
The drive is four minutes, so the question is what you get for it. The reasons owners give in their Google reviews are the time taken in the consult, findings explained in plain language, and the prices: a $118 consult, every price published, an estimate before any procedure. Certified canine rehabilitation on site is the other reason, for dogs that are stiff or recovering from surgery.
Can I be seen the same day if my pet is sick?
Call 03 9968 7771 first and the team will fit urgent cases into the day where they can; walk-ins are triaged on arrival during opening hours. If your pet has collapsed, is struggling to breathe, is seizing, is bleeding heavily or may have eaten a bait, call as you leave Forest Hill so the team can guide you and be ready when you arrive.
Where do I go for an after-hours emergency from Forest Hill?
Ring the clinic number, 03 9968 7771, at any hour. Outside opening hours the prompts put you through to a vet nurse, free of charge, who works out with you whether it can wait until morning. If it cannot, they tell you which emergency hospital to drive to; if it can, you get advice for the night and the clinic books a follow-up as soon as it opens.
How much does a vet visit cost?
A consultation is $118 and a vaccination visit $140 to $160. Blood tests run $120 to $350, X-rays and ultrasound $180 to $550, desexing $450 to $850 for dogs and $250 to $450 for cats, and a dental scale and polish $850 to $890. Every figure is on the pricing page, you get an estimate before any procedure, and VetPay and Afterpay are accepted.
My older dog is getting stiff. Is that something you treat?
Yes. Dr Jessica Goh is a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist, so arthritis management, laser therapy, post-operative recovery and conditioning are done at the clinic. The first visit assesses how your dog moves, then a plan combines pain relief, exercises and laser sessions as needed. The rehabilitation and mobility page explains each option.
