Dental disease is one of the most common things we see and one of the most overlooked. Most pets over three have some degree of it. The problem is it's often invisible until it's causing real discomfort. We check your pet's mouth thoroughly, explain exactly what we're seeing, and give you an honest picture of what needs attention and what can wait.

What we offer

Oral health assessments

Not every visit needs to end with a procedure. Sometimes the right outcome is a clear picture of where things are at, a conversation about home care, and a plan for monitoring over time.

Professional dental cleans

A proper clean goes well below the gum line, where the bacteria and tartar that cause real damage actually sit. It's done under anaesthetic so we can do it thoroughly and safely, without putting your pet through unnecessary stress.

Extractions

Recurring ear infections are one of the most common signs of an underlying allergy. We examine the ear, identify the type of infection, and address both the immediate issue and the root cause where possible.

Why Caring Paws for your pet's dental care

We use dental X-rays as standard

You can't properly assess a tooth without seeing what's happening at the root. We don't skip this step, and we'll show you what we're looking at so you understand the findings.

We're upfront about anaesthetic

We know the idea of anaesthetic is stressful for a lot of owners. We'll explain how we assess your pet's suitability beforehand, what monitoring looks like during the procedure, and what to expect in recovery — so you're not going in blind.

We won't recommend extractions unless they're needed

If a tooth can be saved, we'll tell you. If it can't, we'll explain why clearly and honestly. Our job is to give you the full picture, not to make decisions for you.

What to expect

We know bringing your pet for a vet visit might be scary. Here's how we make the process as clear and comfortable as possible.

Pre-procedure health check

Before any dental procedure, we examine your pet and run pre-anaesthetic bloodwork to make sure they're fit to go under. We'll discuss the results and confirm the plan before the day.

The procedure

Your pet is monitored closely throughout — heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, oxygen. We complete a full mouth examination, clean, X-ray, and carry out any necessary extractions while they're under.

Waking up

We'll call you when the procedure is done and let you know how it went. Most pets go home the same day, a little drowsy but comfortable.

Recovery at home

You'll leave with clear instructions on what to feed, what pain relief to give, and what to watch for. We'll also book a follow-up if extractions were done, to check everything is healing well.

Noticed bad breath, difficulty eating, or pawing at the mouth?

Those are often the first signs of dental disease. Book a visit and we'll take a proper look.
