Heartworm & Parasite Treatment

Parasites are one of the most common health issues we see and one of the most preventable. Whether your pet is already on a routine or you're not sure where to start, we'll help you put a simple, practical plan in place.

What we offer
Heartworm prevention and testing
Heartworm is spread by mosquitoes and can cause serious, lasting damage before any symptoms show. We can test your pet's current status and recommend the best prevention option for their lifestyle: monthly tablets, spot-ons, or an annual injection.
Flea and tick treatment
Fleas are more than just an itch — they can cause skin reactions, anaemia in small pets, and spread through your whole household fast. Ticks can be life-threatening. We'll help you find a product that works and actually gets used.
Intestinal worm treatment
Roundworm, hookworm, whipworm, tapeworm — most pets carry worms at some point. Regular treatment keeps them clear and protects the people in your household too.

Why Caring Paws for parasite treatment
We factor in your pet's actual lifestyle
A dog that swims in creeks every weekend has different needs to one that rarely leaves the backyard. We'll ask the right questions and recommend accordingly — not just whatever's on the shelf.
We won't push products you don't need
Some pets are on too many things. Some aren't on enough. We'll look at what your pet is already taking, check for overlaps or gaps, and give you an honest assessment.
We'll keep track so you don't have to
Parasite prevention only works when it's consistent. We'll note your pet's plan and send reminders when treatments are due, so it stays on track without you having to remember everything.
What to expect
We know handing your pet over to the vet might be scary. Here's how we make the process as clear and comfortable as possible.
Health Check
We'll ask about your pet's current routine, any products they're already on, and their lifestyle. If they're coming in for a heartworm test, that's a quick blood sample with results available the same visit. Before anything is administered, we do a full physical examination. If your pet isn't well enough to vaccinate safely that day, we'll reschedule and let you know why.
Understanding your pet's risk
We'll talk through what your pet is actually exposed to based on where they live, where they go, and how they spend their time. A dog that swims in creeks or visits dog parks regularly has a different risk profile to one that rarely leaves the backyard.
What to watch for after treatment
Most parasite treatments are well tolerated, but we'll let you know what's normal in the days after and what would be worth a call back to us. If you're switching products or starting something new, we'll flag anything specific to look out for.
Ongoing reminders
We'll note your pet's treatment schedule and check in when the next round is due. If anything changes, or a new product comes out, or your pet's needs shift — we'll let you know.

Not sure if your pet is covered?
Bring them in and we'll check where things are at and help you put a simple plan in place.
