Soft tissue surgery covers a wide range of procedures: from removing a lump to repairing internal organs. The stakes feel very different depending on what your pet needs. Whatever the procedure, we take the same careful approach: a thorough assessment beforehand, honest advice about whether surgery is actually the right call, and clear communication throughout so you're never left wondering what's happening or why.

What we offer

Lump and mass removals

Not every lump needs to come off straight away, but some do — and knowing the difference matters. We'll assess the mass, advise on whether removal is recommended, and if it is, send the tissue for analysis so you have a clear answer about what it was and whether further treatment is needed.

Internal soft tissue procedures

Bladder surgery, gastrointestinal procedures, spleen removals, and other internal work — handled on-site rather than referred out. We'll explain what the procedure involves, what we're hoping to achieve, and what recovery looks like before anything is scheduled.

Wound repair and reconstruction

Bite wounds, traumatic injuries, and skin defects that need more than basic wound care. We assess what's needed, manage any infection or contamination first where required, and reconstruct properly so healing goes as smoothly as possible.

Why Caring Paws for soft tissue surgery

We do it here

Having a sterile theatre, in-house imaging, and full monitoring on-site means most soft tissue procedures can be done without the stress of a referral. Your pet stays with a team that already knows them, and results don't get lost between facilities.

We're honest about what needs to come off and what doesn't

Some lumps are worth watching. Others need to come off sooner rather than later. We'll give you a straight answer about which category your pet's mass falls into — and if we're not sure, we'll tell you that too and explain how we find out.

Your pet's comfort is part of the procedure

Pain management isn't something we add on at the end. It's built into how we plan and perform every surgery — before, during, and after — so your pet wakes up as comfortable as possible and stays that way through recovery.

What to expect

We know handing your pet over for desexing can be stressful. Here's how we make the process as clear and comfortable as possible.

Pre-surgical consultation

We assess the area of concern, discuss whether surgery is the right approach, and run pre-anaesthetic bloodwork to make sure your pet is fit to go under. We'll go through the procedure, the costs, and what recovery involves before anything is booked.

Surgery day

Your pet comes in fasted, is admitted and settled, and monitored continuously from induction through to recovery. We'll call you when the procedure is done and let you know how it went.

Going home

You'll leave with specific instructions — what to feed, how to manage the wound site, activity restrictions, and what signs would warrant a call back to us. Pain relief is sent home with you as standard.

Follow-up

We schedule a post-operative check to examine the wound and make sure healing is on track. If tissue was sent for analysis, we'll contact you as soon as results come back and talk you through what they mean.
